How Can We open SPIC MACAY Centre in Rajasthan ?

Proposal letter for opening an SPIC MACAY Chapter

Managing Director/Principal
Educational Institution

Thank you very much for showing interest in SPIC-MACAY.

Initially, I would like to brief on SPIC-MACAY. SPIC MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) is a non-profit, voluntary, apolitical, youth movement founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth with a vision to prevent the gradual de-culturisation of the Indian minds. It is an organized youth movement that works towards the affirmation of our priceless cultural heritage, value based education, the spirit of Nishkama karma Yoga and the pulsating dynamic vitality of the youth. SPIC-MCAY works towards making the youth of India realize and appreciate the beauty, relevance and depth of our rich and diverse culture and heritage through music, dance and the other art forms to bring put the subtle, strong points of our culture. This is done by providing the youth with the much needed exposure to the classical art forms by organizing various concerts of Indian Classical music and dance across the globe at its various chapters.

Apart from concerts under various series like Virasat, Festival, World Dance Series, SPIC-MACAY has a few of other activities like Workshops, Talks, Folk, Walk, State & National Convention, Theatre, Gurukul Scholarship etc. in its basket. During any series (like we are going with Fest’09 right now), our State Coordinating Group (SCG) will be coordinating with you and will fix up a concert for your institution. Details of the total exp. to be occurred during any concert is as per following:
i)                    Artist Remuneration : SPIC-MACAY pays a small amount towards artist remuneration as a ‘Guru Dakshina’ to the artist on each concert basis. On average basis, SPIC-MACAY usually spent around Rs. 18,000 per concert.

ii)                   Travelling: Travelling Exp. Are usually shared by all chapters. We have fixed up an amount of Rs. 4,000/- and Rs. 6,000/- for each chapter for any concert. All institutional chapters, not giving any sort of donations are requested to pay an amount of Rs. 6000/- towards each concerts they organize in their institute. Rest of the chapters are required to pay Rs. 4,000/- for the same.

In some cases where the members in group are larger, the travelling exp. may go up to Rs. 10,000/-. But in that case a prior information would be given to you.

Since, the only source of income to SPIC-MACAY is donations from various corporate & government and also educational institutes. You are also requested to contribute an amount of Rs. 10,000/- at least as an annual contribution for this movement. If you contribute somehow to this movement, you would require to pay an amount of Rs. 4,000/- towards the taxi exp.

iii)                 Boarding & Lodging : Once the artist reaches to your chapter, it’s the duty of the chapter bearers to look after the artist, managing proper hospitality for them, taking them to the venue, making proper arrangements at venue, coordinating with previous chapter (before arrival) and next chapter (at the time of departure) etc. All of the expenses to be occurred on this head are solely born by the respective chapter.

You may get back to us for more details.
With warm regards,
