Mount Abu beckons all music aficionados to savor the magical
chimes of Sitar by none other than Pt. Kushal Das at St. Joseph School
Auditorium on Saturday 24th. September
2011 at 10.30 a.m. All are humbly requested to put their mobiles on silent mode
or switch off.
Shri Kushal Das is one of the foremost sitar players of the
country today and a worthy torchbearer of Hindustani Rāga Sangeet in its true
spirit and glory. Born in Kolkata, he belongs to a family of instrumentalists
of distinction. His grandfather, Shri Bimal Chandra Das was a renowned esraj
player while his father Sri Sailen Das and uncle Sri Shantanu Das were
sitariyas of repute. He has had the privilege of studying under some great
exponents and teachers of music including sitar exponents Prof. Sanjoy Bandopadhyay
and Pandit Ajoy Sinha Roy and vocalists Pandit Manas Chakraborty and Shri
Ramkrishna Basu. Deeply influenced by his idol, the great sitar maestro Pandit
Nikhil Banerjee, Kushal Das’s concerts are marked for their aesthetic appeal
and a fine command over technique.
